Clatter, scree, and a skeletal bang. An uncanny melody circuit-bent towards bliss. "Proof of Bells" is the latest missive from Cube, the alias of artist Adam Keith, who crafts disarmingly forthright music from what others might have left behind.

Even amongst the pantheon of American experimental music, Cube continues to resist easy categorization. On this record, sketches dance amongst songs, and curious moods give way to total evocation.

There is sincere beauty on offer here, steady and periodic immersions into gentle filigree. There is raucous disarray as tape loops fold in on themselves, Möbius-style. And there is unbridled kinetic energy: high-tempo barn-burners, brazen barrages, drums in collision with bass.

This is unsettled music for an uncertain age. This is a communication from one to another. Listen closely, on repeat, and seek uncharted paths.
