See Creatures Live in Shreveport

I arrive at a lower layer to observe the activity of new manifestations.

From left to right, the grind of mechanical gills, exchanging divisions of beryllium. Next, grey and blue clusters course through the bottlenecks of copper relics.

It’s my first time back in the house since 2007. I examine the damage. A faded medallion, forgotten keepsakes, tender joists. The walls must have ran off with the high waters. Collapse inside inspiration.

After another course is laid, there’s a tremendous silence. Out of that, low hum trembles resonate marrow. The most curious creature appears behind swirls of colored glass. Long in form, soiled with ether, one thousand trick reflections of tails, mouths, and feet in a viscous puddle. The GC drops an anchor from above and makes a splash. The creature disperses in the drops.

Adjusting to the darkness, I take a wider view. Incomprehensible notes about pierced brass, the cement in Addison, pearl diving. Jets of clear water, slicks of standstill murk. I’m caught up in it now.

Bored with the kit sometimes, the drummer explores rare technology. She locates places here in the lower layer where industrial color dazzles out from the execution of technique and the motivations of fantasy. There are still undiscovered ways to sit down with the guitar and start, so she’s farther down the river than before, way marking new roots and offshoots. Together, unfathomable bodies of sound, wild calls of dizzy friction sweeping left to right. Codes crack and hiss in dissolution. Patience spurs from experience, knowing how to look, for how long.
